The Beauty of Leftovers: How Our Workshop Scraps Became Mejore+

Blossom Cake Stand in red, made from solid upcycled wood

Walk through our Pasig workshop at the end of a long day and you will find them everywhere. Short planks. Odd corners. Beautiful pieces of solid wood, too small for a dining table but far too good to throw away.

For years, we asked ourselves the same question. What do we do with the wood we don't use?

The answer turned into a whole new line. We call it Mejore+.
Inside our Pasig workshop, where every Mejore+ piece begins.

Every table leaves something behind

When you build furniture in solid wood, every cut leaves an offcut. A tabletop is trimmed to size. A chair leg is shaped from a longer piece. A curve leaves two corners on the floor.

In a workshop that has been cutting wood since 1983, those pieces add up. And they are not scraps in the usual sense. They are the same solid wood, from the same stock, as our full-sized pieces.

Small pieces, same hands

So our makers started looking at the offcut pile differently. A short plank could be a serving tray. A thick block could be a cake stand. Thin, even cuts could become a set of coasters.

The same hands that finish our furniture finish every Mejore+ piece.

Today, Mejore+ includes pieces like these:

Maki Wooden Coasters, a set of four in solid upcycled wood.

Ria and Blossom Cake Stands, made from solid upcycled wood and finished in rich colors.

Puddle Mini Tray, a small, softly curved tray for rings, keys or snacks.

Each one is made in the same workshop, by the same makers, who build our sofas, beds and dining tables.

Why no two are exactly alike

Because every piece starts as a leftover, the grain is never quite the same twice. One tray may carry a darker streak. One coaster may show a tight knot of grain.

That is not a flaw. It is the wood telling you where it came from.

A good first Mejore

A solid wood sofa is a big decision. A tray or a set of coasters is an easy one. For many of our customers, a Mejore+ piece is how they first get to know us: they feel the weight of the wood, see the finish up close, and understand what we mean by craft.

Mejore+ pieces also make thoughtful gifts. They are useful every day, made in the Philippines, and come with a story worth telling at the table.
